Why do you need a rigger...
"What do parachute rigger's actually do?"
It’s no mystery, Parachute Riggers do pack parachutes. But, truthfully, they do so much more than just pack. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifies Senior and Master Riggers in up to four different ratings (back, chest, seat, & lap). Riggers don't only modify and repair skydiving gear. They also repair steering toggles, lines, links, deployment bags, helmets, pilot chutes, jumpsuits, and more.
"Why does my parchute have to be repacked more than once per year?"
FAA regulations mandate that reserve parachutes and pilot emergency parachutes be inspected and repacked every 180 days or after use. Experienced FAA Certified Riggers are qualified to inspect, repair and repack reserve canopies and harness/container systems.
"What type of standards are parachute riggers required to follow?"
FAA inspection standards require riggers to confirm that parachutes and harness/containers comply with all airworthiness directives and service bulletins. Also, manufacturer inspection, testing, and packing requirements are followed throughout the entire inspection/repacking process.
"How long does it take for my parachute to be done?"
It takes anywhere from 3-5 days for us to complete your parachute system. However, keep in mind that extensive repairs or alterations may take us longer than normal. Upon drop off of your system, one of our FAA Certified Parachute Riggers will meet with you regarding the process and time required to complete the task.
"Do you just do sport parachutes?"
No. We service all types of parachutes. From Military systems to Pilot Emergency Parachute systems. We can even do odd jobs such as seat belt replacements, canvas repair and miscellaneous sewing needs. We have even made nets for pumpkin chucker's and diving search and rescue guides!
"What if the manufacturer of my rig puts out a service bulletin?"
It's ok! Total Parachute Rigging Solutions monitors the sites of every manufacturing company, as well as the PIA site. When a service bulletin is put out by manufacturers, we ensure that the bulletins instructions are followed properly. We will even notify you that there was a bulletin put out on your parachute system!
"I am in the military and have a lengthy deployment coming up. What should I do?"
Deployments and missions happen! Not a problem! We can store your parachute for you while you are gone, and perform all maintenance on it so it is ready when you come back! There is no fee for having us store your parachute while you are gone. Don't want to leave it with us? That is ok too! We can give you tips on storing it while you are gone!
